Prisma Visions

It’s a very exciting time for us at Global Tribe. We’ve been making efforts to forge new relationships across the world to be able to bring some of the most exciting publishers in cartomancy and esoteric literature to the UK.

First up is a title I’ve been super, super excited to add to my collection since way before we opened the bookshop, the Prisma Visions Tarot.

James R. Eads is an LA based surreal impressionist artist who has an amazing selection of products, including a new oracle deck releasing later this year.

We’re currently still waiting for our shipment to pass through customs, it’s been heavily delayed on account of the pandemic response, but this has only served to deepen our excitement, and definitely taught me a thing or two about international shipping!

Prisma Visions deck is a bright and ethereal tarot deck showcasing James’ beautiful artwork in all its glory with mirror gilt silver edges.

This deck has an extra mystery card added to the major arcana, but otherwise follows the traditional tarot framework. The illustrations for the major arcana are stunning, but the minor arcana is where this deck really shines - each suit can be put together to show the full journey of the hero through each element. The imagery still has distinct nods to classical symbolism of the Rider Waite, but with a twist.

Light Visions is the more minimalistic older sibling of Prisma.

Striking monochrome designs in purple and cream with bright gold gilt edges, very similar to the imagery of the Prisma Tarot but a little simpler in some places making the deck a little easier to read, and more appealing to those who can get distracted by high levels of intricate detail.

These decks were previously available in the south of the country, but to the best of my knowledge, we are one of (if not) the only place in Britain where you can find this collection.

Specifics:

  • The Cards are approx 2.75" x 4.75" and all share identical backs. The cards are printed with the highest quality inks on durable cardstock and are finished with a UV varnish and edged with mirror-like metallic silver. (Gold on Light Visions)

  • The Booklet is also 2.75" x 4.75", about 100 pages with a short introduction. The bulk of the guide explores the imagery of each card and their associated meanings, beautifully written by Katherine Tombs.

  • The Box is a one piece flip top clam shell box. It is constructed with 1/8" thick cardboard and is printed with a matte finish and Holographic Foil.

  • Both Prisma and Light visions come with a unique 79th card.

  • Decks come shrink wrapped with a golden Seal of Authenticity - There are a lot of fakes on the market, shameful imitations which really do not do the deck itself justice.

Last but not least, I could not resist adding a few of these to our order...

Open Portals playing cards and game, limited to about 10 decks in this order.

We love playing cards at GT, and so how could we say no? 56 perfectly realised playing cards with two manuals, one of which is a guide to the Open portals game, a hybrid magic card game in which players represent one of four magics - Time, Light, Nature and Spirit.

The other manual, is a guide to using this deck as an oracle for divinatory practices.

  • Includes: One deck of cards, two manuals and an exterior box

  • The Cards are standard poker sized playing cards and are printed by the United States Playing Card Company. The cards are printed with the highest quality inks on classic cardstock with an embossed finish.

  • The Playing Cards box is printed with white foil and gold foil on the exterior and interior.

  • The First Manual "How to Open Portals" explains how to play the unique multiplayer game. The manual folds out to 10" x 22" and is double sided with nine perforated tiles to tear-off and be used during game play.

  • The Second Manual "Open Portals for Oracles" explains how to use the deck as an Oracle deck for divination. The manual folds out to 10" x 25" and includes detailed descriptions of each card in the deck.

  • The Exterior Box is a two piece box with gold foil printing and a soft touch finish. It is constructed with 1/8" thick cardboard.

  • First Edition of 7500 Darkside Decks

Here’s a few pictures to wet your appetite, and a link to James’ website. Show him some love! www.jamesreads.com

Get in touch if you want to reserve one of these decks, as I imagine they’re going to go fast
